MUST WATCH: The World’s Worst Place To Be Disabled? [video]
I love me a good ole documentary, literally I’ve watched hundreds! Ok maybe that’s a slight exaggeration but anyway… Yesterday I came across this one on iPlayer that brought me to tears, The World’s Worst Place To Be Disabled. The one-hour documentary shows what it’s like for the many disabled people living in Ghana, West Africa.
It truly hurt my soul to see what some people are going through around the world. People killing their young babies because they have a disability and they’re ashamed of them, chaining them up like animals, beating them, leaving them in mental homes to be abused and left to die. There are even “Doctors” that are being paid to poison young disabled children in special spiritual rituals in which they make them drink poison and chuck their dead bodies in a river.
It is truly INSANE.
Although it’s tough to see, I urge you to take some time out of your day and watch it, as well as share. These people are suffering and the more awareness there is of the problem, more can be done to help.
In the next few years I hope to open my own charity, The Extraordinary People Foundation to help those with visual deformities and disability. This really has opened my eyes to the millions of people out there who are suffering and why charities are so important.
